I recently found out about the growth of Poland from reading an article from Peter Schiff. I read some more about it on Wikipedia, but I wanted to know what everyone here thought about it. I never hear much about this country from online debates.

I think that if the Poles are smart then they will do the following:
But I tell this to anybody who ask my opinion on just about any other place.
My advice for my home state of Ohio is:
Bogart: My advice for my home state of Ohio is: Succeed from the USA. Demand repayment of Social Security and other welfare programs. Refuse to follow any federal laws. Dissolve/Repeal any laws or regulations involving the production of currency and let markets resolve what currency works best. Allow open immigration of all people.
5. Abolish all laws that give unions power to use violence or force people to accept unions.
6. Lower taxes drastically on businesses [and everything else].

My own advice to any country: divide its area in zones of at most 10’000 inhabitants. Allow a single day of the year (ex. March 15) for referenda allowing any number of such zones to freely secede at will. Thee newly formed states should only obey three rules: 1) honour any similar referenda that some of their own zones could hold in the future, 2) never close their borders to emigration, 3) never send troops abroad or accept foreign troops within their territory. Any states thus created would have to pay a yearly quota for communal defense (funding nuclear research), or else leave the League at will and be free to defend itself. In everything else they’d be free to act as they wished, even murder Jews, or Moslems within their borders, or anything.
As for Poland, I hear that a large Misesian community resides there. Eastern Europe has always been a land of brilliant people, although history hasn’t been kind. After all, the fact that ethnicities are so mixed up east of Germany, can only mean that once, racial tensions where at an all-times low, hence liberalism was flourishing. Such a pitty…
I'm Polish, actually. The politics in Poland seem to be moving in the right direction towards more free markets, but I wouldn't say that things are great in Poland right now. Still a lot of corruption and a prevailing socialist attitude. On top of that, there needs to be a lot more privatization done, especially when it comes to the health care system.
