WASHINGTON—Sen. Dikembe Mutombo (R-CO) showed that he is still one of the most dominant big men in Congress Thursday, blocking a record 16 bills in one legislative session.
Yeah, that reminds me of Kinsella's excellent article on the front page about how the legislature needs to be done away with.
It's amazing how I end up finding people here who independently came to the EXACT SAME IDEA I HAVE BEEN HAVING IN MY HEAD FOR A LONG TIME.
If we kept a simple and clearly defined Consitution and code of laws, and simply left their implementation to a judiciary which has studied those laws and the philosophy behind them in detail and interprets those laws in their own understanding of it, the system of governance would be much simpler and, as Kinsella said, consistent. And with that consistency, we could also easily allow for a free market in dispute arbitration to exist alongside.
It would be unusual and unreasonable to expect a legislature that voluntarily ties up its own hands. A legislator who exists to block attempts to legislate...yeah, right.
