And in theatres?
Why do the marines have all this extra cash they can throw down on Spike TV...and even make the marines ad a part of all of the episodes on TUF (the ultimate fighter series) on spike?
And now all over their website...ufc.com
and in theatres?

The Marines have been sponsoring the UFC for several years now. They have some kind of package deal. The Army has also had spots on TUF.
As a huge MMA fan, I dislike this intensely.
But what can you do? I can't really blame the armed forces - MMA hits their target demograpic(single males 18-34) square between the eyes.
I guess recruitment must be way down.
It is not about the extra cash but about the audience. MMA/UFC has the correct demographic viewership. You don't see the Marines advertising much on Dancing With the Stars or Grays Anatomy? The Marines pay money so the program directors air the ads.
The 11 to 25 year age group is watching less and less television. Any program that appeals to these people is bound to attract the military as it is always looking for more people to get low pay, extremely dangerous working conditions and the selfsatisfaction that you just destroyed the lives of people who have never harmed you nor wanted to do so.
my question should have been...why does the military have access to tax money to advertise in theatres and TV to begin with?

Not Marines, but I have discussed my journey from pro-warfare state to anti-state, pro-freedom, pro-prosperity and pro-peace with several ex-Navy and ex-Army officers and enlisted. And some agree with me.
Remember, Ron Paul raised the more money from military personnel in the last election cycle than the final candidates.

The pay's not low.
I never heckle anybody. If asked for my opinion, I will give it to them.

I don't know what to say besides thanks. =)

Well, you see, there is this thing called government and it has a near monopoly on force in a geographic area. Within this area it threatens people with violence if they don't give up a portion of their income. This income is used to buy advertising on the UFC. Hope that helps.

One thing I hate seeing are these retards in fatigues out during the day, especially during those stupid "holidays" glorifying their "service" (or rape and murder of innocents).
They have a commercial (that was mentioned on the LRC blog) that Screenvision plays before the movie starts. At the theater I work at we also have a cardboard stand promoting them. As far as I know the stuff we get is above our control, so I'm not sure if my general manager has much say in whether or not we can take it down or not.
existence is elsewhere
I've been into MMA since I was about 20 and I love the UFC though i admit I haven't been following the fight scene as close lately. When I do watch UFC or any other fighting event or when I'm at the theater and I see the ads, they don't bother me at all.
The US Marines usually get the worst in combat (i.e., most action), therefore they have to do a much better job glamorizing the job. It requires quite a bit of marketing and salesmanship to get people to volunteer their lives.
The Army, Navy and Air Force are all oriented around their toys - tanks, ships, aircraft, etc. These toys cost a ton of money to acquire and maintain, and forces those entities to make decisions on their budgets. The Marines have to push more of the human element (even more so than the Army Strong recruitment campaign). Their target are individuals who want to be or think of themselves as special, better than other men or women - survivors. UFC on Spike TV fits the demographic. Not much else really to it.
