Michael Barone warns against allowing geeks with formulas to dictate global warming and health care policy for the same reason formula's can't be used to desribe our economy. I hadn't thought of climatology as a social science, but since man does impact climate, not in the way Al Gore wants us to believe, it has become a social science.
It's human nature to break problems down into smaller, simpler chunks so we can solve them, but not such complex systems. Unfortunately, phony science is a new religion, and it's used to lead around true believers by the nose.
Don't worry about geeks and their formulas. The UN decided that "global climate change" existed by voting on it.
To paraphrase Marc Faber: We're all doomed, but that doesn't mean that we can't make money in the process. Rabbi Lapin: "Let's make bricks!" Stephan Kinsella: "Say you and I both want to make a German chocolate cake."
Bruce Bueno de Mesquita of the Hoover Institute invented a model to predict historical events
He's a game theorist (no wonder).
I saw a similar type of guy last night who was claiming to be able to use game theory to improve the decision making process (seemingly for governments) by prediction.
Yeah, ooookay, I thought. It was probably appropriate that it was either the same night or same show as a Nostradamus special. he he
Oh, here's the guy:

Kinda scary when he talks about "changing people's behavior" and such.
Consultant to the CIA and the Department of Defense -- they never mess up, right?

Heh, that's the guy I just mentioned.
