Graphs shows banks have more credit now than ever, why is there a 'crunch'?

I thought banks loved to inflate, it's how they make money.

One writer on Mises said it should be called a borownig crunch, meaning there was the lack of borrowers rather than a lack of credit.

Isn't credit in the modern term a number in a computer?
