He had Boone Pickens on last night and attacked him over why do you need my money to build wind tunnels, and such.

He has also taken on global warming and health care and did an episode on Atlas Shrugged.

I think using the terms "Crony Capitalism or Corporatism" is a serious strategic mistake.  They don't, by themselves, reveal anything abut the nature of things behind them.  They could be (and most of the time are) taken for just words to describe the out of control unregulated market.

We have better and more accurately revealing terms in our lexicon.  Mises himself used them or even coined them:

Interventionism, The Hampered Market, The Sabotaged Market.

Must we always play right into the hands of the interventionists and socialists?

Is there a link to that somewhere online? I'd love to see Stossel take on Pickens.

last year Stossel made a 10.000 dollar bet with him about the price of oil. He originally offered that the price of oil would not be above $100/barrel by Jan 1, but PIckens made him move the date to his birthday which is at the end of May

Well, it would be nice if Stossel also talked about the most corrupt and criminal protected industry on earth, the military-industrial complex/arms manufacturers.

He could also comment further on the banking mafia and other big. protected business (admittedly he mentions banking at the beginning of the video).

There was not one mention of the broken window fallacy in that video. Unbelievable.

How refreshing, only a minimal of partisan BS.  The rest was quite good.

You have to give Stossel credit if this stays on.  Few people have ever succeeded in keeping a political show with an obvious slant on air.

Jon Irenicus:

"A good connection to government is the best asset a company can have, increasingly as government plays a larger role in the economy." - Tim Carney

Awesome quote! Yes In fact, maybe this could be the foundation for a cynical investment strategy during periods of rapid public sector expansion (I wonder how much this consideration plays a role in the so-called "Oracle of Omaha"s investment strategy, especially in light of his recent acquisition of a heavily regulated train company...)

Lol, that's what I was thinking too. I was sitting there just waiting for it to come up, but it never did.

Still a good video though. Always enjoyed John Stossel's investigative reporting.
