I saw the post asking for information about Duke, and it reminded me that some people out there might be interested in the composition of Trinity in Hartford, offering bachelor's and master's degrees (part-time) in economics.  Dr. Bill Butos is the director of graduate studies, and is an Austrian.  According to his website, he teaches interdepartmental classes on libertarianism, as well.  In September, my understanding is that Richard Ebeling and Ed Stringham, both Austrians, will be taking faculty positions there as well.  The website is already listing an undergraduate course on history of economic thought taught by Dr. Ebeling, which is his area of specialization.  Ed Stringham, I believe, is an anarchist.

I hope to apply to begin graduate studies there next January, as I live only about an hour from there, and it's rapidly turning into an Austrian stronghold.  I'd encourage others with Austrian interests to consider it, either for graduate or undergraduate, so that the school can see that the presence of these Austrians is drawing applicants.

As a side note, if you aren't familiar with Dr. Ebeling, he studied with F. A. Hayek, and Pete Boettke has commented that "Don Lavoie understood Mises better than all but two other Austrian economists (Israel Kirzner and Richard Ebeling)."  Yes, this is a controversial claim, but it illustrates that Ebeling is quite a scholar on these topics, and that people living in the area could do far worse than Trinity.  Ebeling has been President of FEE for the last 5 years, and is leaving this June.

Yes, this is a very exciting development. Butos is a wonderful scholar and gentleman. to have all three there is just amazing. I'm sure that this university will be on the map with Austrians in a big way in the future.
