Does anyone know of any article/video where Paul Krugman addresses that World War II was more than just a spending binge and that Europe's destruction contributed to some of the U.S.'s war-time post-war economic success.  I've never seen him talk about WWII as anything other than a big healthy bundle of "stimulus" that we need to use as a model for ending economic malaise.  I'd also like to know why he thinks there was a depression in the UK (only other country I've seen Real GDP data for WWII times) from 1944-1952 in terms of Real GDP.  Can someone point me in the direction of something like this?  Or is he just full of shit?
