One of the things it promises, is to lower prices.  This campaign is being led by the first lady.

It sounds like they are getting government assistance somehow with this program.

Does anyone know if they are getting tax money or something for this program?

Why else would walmart do this if they are not getting incentives from government?

They are getting cozy with the wife of the head of the "organization of robbery".   Wal-Mart may be betting on future government restrictions and prohibition on sodium and fatty foods.   They will position themselves so they are ready.  Expect Wal-Mart to eventually lobby for such restrictions so that their investments are not squandered.
