Is there a way to view and respond to posts in a tree view? Just looking at the posts in submitted order is pretty useless.

Click on "replied on" in the headline of a post and it shows you what post it was replied to. Not tree view but it is something.

The fact that there is no tree threading in modern forum software has always been one of the great mysteries of the Internet to me. Back in 1996 I was browsing Usenet newsgroups with full tree threading, making them extremely readable. Reddit is just about the only site I've seen that still uses tree threading. The other sites, including this one, seem consigned to this stoneage linear view that makes it nearly impossible to follow a major thread once it gets going. That's one reason the controversial threads quickly devolve into mass confusion after 2-3 pages.
