So...

I wanted to live blog DiLorenzo's "How Capitalism Saved America," because of my promise to Jeff Tucker to do so. I got the book in the mail a few days ago and have read through a substantial portion of it. I'm ready to begin liveblogging, but I have a problem: how do live blog? Do I basically try to expand on the author's arguments? Do I provide the audience with an overview of the author's arguments? etc.

Jeffrey Tucker has been live blogging.  ryanpatgray has been liveblogging and there is another fellow here live blogging.  I find when I don't know, imitation is a good tactic.  Big Smile

On a completely random note, your post title sounds like lolspeak.  "Hai!  How do live blog?" Wink

Ugh. I can't believe you guys are actually gonna make me try to learn how to live blog! Can't everything be handed to me on a silver spoon? I thought that since Obama has been elected, scarcity has been abolished and we can now frolic along in a world full of hope and change.

I finished ! here it is

You can see that I took a slightly different approach with each, sometimes just recounting the high points and sometimes riffing on their stuff. One thing I did was just glom onto any points that really impressed me and tried to spell out what i say as the implications.

There are as many ways to live blog as there are to think. Really it is like giving a public record of what you learn and what you are thinking.

Again, it is hard work but I can't imagine any intellectual work that is more rewarding. I really enjoyed it, although it did rather possess me completely for a time.

Thanks, that's kind of what I figured I'll do anyway. I'll start liveblogging soon at my blog ajwitoslawski.blogspot.com.
