I do not really know much about Jon Stewart. What sort of policy does he normally advocate?

He likes to agree and nod that "we need government to protect our rights and our way of life" and that we need protection from the dangers of the market.

Speaking of setting, what is the purpose of these studio audiences? Are they some sort of bulwark that serves to arouse an emotional response from people, when the comedy routine fails? They belong in a zoo.

Was more referring to setting as in, you have roughly 30 seconds max to make your point.

People are afraid to laugh alone that is why they have studio audiences and laugh tracks on sitcoms. It makes you laugh or helps you too.

Meh, that's what he believes, and given that, I think he was very respectful of Ron Paul.

Jon Stewart is actually very good about that. You can tell when he blatantly disagrees with the person he is interviewing (which is pretty often) but he somehow always manages to keep it civil and respectful.

When asked about corporatism, he should have turned it around on Jon and asked what he meant by corporatism. As far as I know, it's the supporting of a group of people (usually a corporation) through use of a monopoly on force. Eliminate that monopoly or it's ability to support or grant special rights or privileges, and there is no corporatism.

It's too bad the discussion diverged from the Fed and onto broader philosophical issues. Missed opportunity to plug the Audit the Fed bill? Still, kudos to Stewart for promoting the book.
