Saying There WIll Be Blood is anti-capitalist or anti-religion is like saying Boogie Nights is anti-porn. THey're HUMAN STORIES, and have no political message at all.

As for the Lincoln film, I read somewhere that the man is not presented so perfectly as many have suggested it might. I have no doubt that the grand theme will be the protection of the "Union" and have Lincoln be a 'hero' by the end of it, but (from what I've read) he is depicted as being a complex individual that is a little over his head.

I liked The Color Purple and Schindler's List too.

I wonder if John Williams will do the music?
(EDIT: I just checked imdb.com and yes, Williams is doing the music.)

This would be a great movie for someone like Tom Woods to review and point out the "Hollywood vs. History" aspect of it!

Spielberg movies always have a high production but I have recently arrived at the conclusion that his movies are a bit showy or over the top, melodramatic. But I will definitely watch this movie as it looks like it has a high production level and a good casts.

Well keep in mind that I haven't seen the film since 2007, and my way of interperating a film was much, much, much different back then.

Haha yeah I remember Rollins saying like "So yeah this is about multinational oil corporations raping the world right?!!" And PTA was like "Naaa, man... naaaaa...."

Yeah, PTA did an interview with Henry Rollins where Rollins just kept asking if it was about "Bush and oil" (I'm paraphrasing), and Paul seemed very uncomfortable. I did not see any anti-capitalist or even anti-religious message in the film at all. It was very clear that these characters were extreme personalities who did not "stand in for" whole swaths of society (like so many lazy critics would like to believe of every movie), but were meant to be just themselves, individuals. That is where the interest and the drama came in.

But then I really love PTA and his movies, so maybe I have rose colored glasses when it comes to his intentions.

@ SM- That's not a very charitable interpretation of There Will Be Blood. I liked it a lot and thought there was much more depth to DDL's character than many people thought. Sure people will latch on and try to propagandize it, but it should be obvious even to them that they're no longer talking about the move. Even PTA said it wasn't a political film.

Oh geez. I just looked up stuff that Alec Guiness did. Pretty harsh, I had no idea he hated the films so much.
