The obese would come to rely more on delivered food, meaning the physical activity and social stigma implied by being in public would be reduced, thus contributing to an even greater epidemic of obesity.

You know, I just thought of something. What would happen to tourism in Mississippi? What about the out-of-town fatties who travel to the state only to discover that they can't eat out?

A revolution? Serious this says alot about people who have nothing better to do than to try to socially engineer other people's lives. One can only hope that enough of these stupidities will wake people up and cause changes. Unfortunately, I don't see the tipping point yet.

Mississippi state representative Ted Mayhall (R) recently introduced legislation [http://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/documents/2008/pdf/HB/0200-0299/HB0282IN.pdf] that would bar restaurants from serving obese people (as defined by the government). I'm of the opinion that this would be a serious blow to the economy in Mississippi with its highest-in-the-nation obesity rate and second-highes-in-the-nation unemployment rate. Telling restaurants that they can't serve obese people would be like telling gas stations that they can't serve people who drive SUVs and trucks. Ignoring the fact that this is very unlikely to pass, does anybody else believe that this is a horrible bill?
