Yeah I had read about this. Not impressed. What we really need is for someone in an Native American reservation to start up a tax secession movement, basically, "anything that starts here and stays here cannot be taxed out there." I looked at a map of Native American "reservations"* and found there are a few that lie on the northern border with Canada. The largest appears to be a Blackfeet territory in Montana. The Quinaults have a territory that borders the Pacific ocean. The town of Taholah, WA could conceivably be developed into a port with sufficient capital. But the Feds addicted the Native leaders to Federal subsidy a long time ago and the moment any of these guys start making moves toward a full and formal secession that money would be immediately cut off and they know it. So, it would be tough to convince anyone to go along with an out-and-out secession movement. But maybe if you could get a FSP-style movement of dedicated secessionists willing to move in and jump-start an economy with a large infusion of capital and labor, you could get something off the ground. If it is possible to navigate into Taholah, you would have a seceding territory with an insuperable legal/political argument for sovereignty with direct access to international waters.

Hans Hoppe has suggested that a single city seceding (something like a San Francisco) is the best way forward as a strategy to getting a foot in the door to breaking down the international statist order. If we can find some blatantly oppressed/colonized groups like the Native Americans or other aboriginal peoples anywhere around the world with a functioning city on the sea that has a port - or can have one developed at reasonable cost - this might be a real recipe for success.

	Clayton -

*What an insulting term, it doesn't even go to the bother of being euphemistic. By the way, you will note that the Federal government's attitude towards the Native Americans to this day is infinitely arrogant and indifferent... the Federal department in charge of "managing" the Native Americans is called the Bureau of Indian Affairs, many decades after the term "Indian" has fallen out of formal and official use due to its grossly ethnically arrogant overtones (basically, "brown people are brown people, what the fuck difference does it make if this one is from India and that one is from North America???")

Re: A secessionist state inside Australia

And it's funny when someone claims that "it's unconstitutional yada yada yada", ignoring the fact that no one signed the "original" constitution, so it has zero value. I bet most people on these forums didn't know about this. These guys pay no tax! What would happen if people started micro-nations on a mass scale? Surely the state couldn't throw all of us in jail? This is a part and parcel of the nullification movement.
