I've also encountered the forum being less available lately. Ironically, hosting websites in "the cloud" is supposed to enhance their availability, not diminish it.

Re: LRC/Mises network and Internet issues

Not commenting about anything else, but yes, down time for me a fair bit. Cloud issues I spouse?

Hope it's just new issues that need to be ironed out.

Re: LRC/Mises network and Internet issues

Not everything is a malicious conspiracy. I doubt it would be DNS attacks, as Mises moved to the Cloud. (explanation of service here)

Does the LvMI have an IT professional on staff? Not only is the Forum frequently down but I find that mises.org is frequently down, as well. This happens mostly during day-time hours and has been happening increasingly often for about the last 6-9 months.

If this was just a bandwidth issue, I'd assume it would be soved by money (buy a bigger pipe into the server, get more servers, etc.) I assume that this has been done since it's relatively straightforward to calculate the connection bandwidth and server resources needed for a given amount of traffic. But it is also possible for someone who doesn't like a website to use DNS attacks to keep the website from receiving traffic in the first place by making it appear to users that the website is down when it is not. Does LvMI know and monitor the security status of mises.org DNS entries? LvMI definitely has political enemies, particularly by virtue of the fact that it is associated with Ron Paul by others (I know there is no actual affiliation, formal or informal, but that is how others perceive it).

Whoever is in charge of the LvMI network and web resources should consider hiring a security firm to check if this just a bandwidth issue or if there are deeper problems, here. There are a lot of people who would like to make sure it's difficult to access mises.org.

This LRC blog post is what really triggered this for me. Google is affiliated with US intelligence and there is no doubt that they intend to do precisely the opposite of their motto... I don't think the LRC takedown was an accident and it does, indeed, portend other possibilities for LRC's Google Web search results.

Is anyone else having problems accessing mises.org during daytime hours?
