So, I just thought I'd post this here because it's made me quite happy; there is a competition amongst AS/A2 Economics students in the UK ever year, and the winner of the best 2000 word essay wins £1000! Now, normally I wouldn't post this, but the question title is; "Are recessions inevitable?"

So naturally I'm applying. I'm equally interested in an Austrian-school essay winning an economics competition in this country as I am in receiving £1000, so this is totally sincere.

Anyway, I was hoping that when I get around to writing it, there would be people on here who could help me out with getting the right stuff in there? I know Austrian theory of the business cycle etc etc and I read all the Mises articles every day, but you know, even if it is a drop in an ocean of European Social Democratic tyranny, it's for a good cause :P

I was going to compete for that, with a similar idea; I am a member of the Royal Economic Society (and it sends me its thick, incomprehensible econometric journals every month), and I am well up for winning a grand! Of course now I see I have ample competition. In general if you look at the winners it's neo-classical/neo-keynesian, but I don't think they're too closed-minded when it comes to students. Saying that, I have yet to see one mainstream acceptance of the Austrian theory...
