Excuses abound! </div></blockquote></p> <p>Exactly.&nbsp; It is one thing to discover that you are a sheep or that you are locked in a fancy air conditioned cage.&nbsp; It is another to say I will risk the comfort I now experience for something less certain.&nbsp; Maybe a website or a system can be created that takes us beyond these armchair discussions, and into the real world.&nbsp; </p> <p>Democracy is about ever so slowly tightening the chains of tyranny around the neck of a decent person.&nbsp; We should be about gently&nbsp;filing away at these chains not talking about filing them away, but actually filing them away.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </p> <p>Here is the pattern:</p> <ul> <li>Someone suggests a solution (Hey! Has anybody thought about doing X.&nbsp; OR I think we should do Y.)</li> <li>People respond with agreement, disagreement,&nbsp;ask clarifying questions, or offer suggestions.</li> <li>Nothing happens.&nbsp; No one gets together.&nbsp; No one starts to outline how the venture could be accomplished.&nbsp; No one starts to complete a list of action items.</li> </ul> <p>How do we fix this?&nbsp; The Mises website does an amazing job of outlining the problem and even some solutions.&nbsp; However, this does not seem like the place to begin acting upon the knowledge gained.&nbsp; We can find others here, but system for implementing this needs to be developed.</p> <p>Requirements of the Freedom&nbsp;System:</p> <ul> <li>Voluntary </li> <li>Private</li> <li>Defensible (both intellectually and physically)</li> <li>Defensive (non-coercive)</li> <li>Scalable (one or one billion people should be able to independently implement the solution)</li> <li>Ubiquitous (anyone, anywhere, any language, any current government)</li> <li>Distributed (loss of one does not imply the loss of all)</li> <li>Perpetual (the system must&nbsp;last as long as humans exist)</li> <li>Self healing (erosions of freedom should be mended as soon as they develop, accounts for human failure and imperfection)</li> <li>Contagious (the system must reproduce itself)</li> <li>Autonomous (self-contained, modular, flexible, self-regulated)</li> <li>Low Barrier to Entry (a person with few resources should be able to implement it)</li> </ul> <p>Depending on how you look at this list some of these requirements could be derived from each other.&nbsp; Let me know if you think something is missing&nbsp;or that I&#39;m crazy or whatever.&nbsp; &nbsp; </p> <p>Free yourself first.</p><div style="clear:both;"></div>
