His probability critique seems a little far-reaching. Is there any systematic difference between stating that someone knows nothing or someone probability of knowing is beyond three standard deviations of the mean? This seems like the "monkeys randomly pecking keys on the keyboard will eventually produce Shakespeare" argument. For example, Caplan states that Boettke may not know when someone is going to throw a birthday party for him, but he does know that these parties will be on or near his birthday and they usually happen on birthdays that are divisible by 10. Yet, what if someone doesn't know when their birthday is or what a birthday is?

Re: Good Debate on Asustrian Economics

Is there anything on LvMI about Caplan's probability theory assessment?

Re: Good Debate on Asustrian Economics

Caplan often makes very subtle, ambiguous mistakes. Very annoying because you can't make a clearcut criticism. You have step back right out of the complicated web he weaves and start form a different place.

Re: Good Debate on Asustrian Economics

Yeah, Boettke seems like a blockhead variant of AE.

Re: Good Debate on Asustrian Economics

Already been posted here on the forums.
