&lt;p&gt;There are some thoughtful people at Reddit.com/r/libertarian&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I think a lot of it is cultural. You know, the pop culture zeitgeist.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;But, it&amp;#39;s clear that there is a tremendous amount of groupthink, and a shunning of logic/reason. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Often, there are comments that say how much conservatives hate poor people. &amp;nbsp;But, it&amp;#39;s been proven over and over again that the welfare state is detrimental to poor people. &amp;nbsp;And, conservatives give more to charity. &amp;nbsp;A logical analysis would bear these facts out. &amp;nbsp;But, it would go against what&amp;#39;s &amp;quot;cool&amp;quot;.&lt;/p&gt;
