I used to not take anti-globalization movement seriously. How could they possibly believe that? But apparently they do.

I think he meant that the land was nationalised, i.e. owned by the government, but sold off to the people. Homesteading land is kind of a lot trickier than just selling people contract rights over property.

Even Marx thought that the early industrialisation stages of capitalism were a 'necessary transition phase' from feudalism. Even he would have been in favour of globalisation and against government tariffs which benefit corporate entities exempt from any competition purchasing labour power in poverty stricken communities at dirt cheap prices. Hence, the anti-globalisation protesters are merely prolonging a necessary stage of essential (ugly though it may be) stage of development.
