Production is 'anarchistic' - Ludwig von Mises
As insane as the young statesman above mentioned might be, I do get what he means.
Apple's products are made with such high productivity that the enterprise comprises one of the lowest labour-to-capital ratios ever seen, probably just short of Facebook.
These things do lead to temporary structural unemployment, much the way IBM's mass layoffs occured after rapid rise in IBM's productivity.

This is the most inspirational speech I've ever heard. It was awesome; nothing short of amazing. Why are there so few speakers like this today?
"Is life so dear or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?" -Patrick Henry

Nielsio: Have any of you seen this before? PATENTS: If people had understood how patents would be granted when most of today's ideas were invented, and had taken out patents, the industry would be at a complete standstill today.
Tucker used it in this excellent article:

The Bruce Willis resemblance of Jeffrey Tucker is astounding.
My friend, authors of futuristic, conspiratorial, and mostly just imaginative fiction have very few, if any, insights into the problems
the world faces today or in the future. Reading such works and passing them around will basically distract a few. I am sure that
in some government, somewhere, some individuals are "working" on producing one of these fictional worlds.. maybe like the
movie "1984"...maybe with RoboCop finally a reality.
I noticed there is considerable interest at this institution surrounding the subject of Logic. We should all take a semester.
What an economist.
You shouldn't get any "points" for pointless messages. Perhaps I've missed the point of your reply. I should be apologizing??
Ron, he's not replying to you.

We're in the reactionary phase. The incumbents are riding the coattails of the distressed back into power.
How can people be so wrong about how the world works?
Probably the most significant and lasting legacy of this period of "socialist" innovation was the progressive tax code. It has been a feature of the income tax since its institution in 1916. Who was one of its original champions? Theodore Roosevelt. The fact is that the United States -- like nearly every single Western capitalist democracy -- is a variable blend of socialism and capitalism, free-enterprise economies with regulatory restraints and income redistribution. What right-wingers like Beck and Ingraham hysterically label "going down the road to socialism" sounds a lot like following FDR's path to American prosperity. The result of those "socialist" reforms was the birth of the great American middle class and the quality of life we have enjoyed so long we've forgotten what it was like not to have it. People like Glenn Beck seem never even to have learned.

I can show you much worse than that. Heck, take a look at any reddit post, even a non-political one. I found about 20 blatantly, ridiculously socialist comments in a single post about the proposed successor to Bluray (and no, it had nothing to do with IP). There are opportunities to educate in almost every reddit post, but the very few libertarians there struggle to get a word in edgewise.

thank you so much..this site is new to me..I'm used to the older, direct chat communications.
it is more than kind of u to make note of me..ty
My pleasure Ron. Welcome to Mises. :)
It is funny!! What part of a musical or literary copyright does not indeed express the concept of intellectual property?
I honestly wish more "debators" who debate for the sake of debate, chose an arbitrary side just because it's chick in the classroom..PLEASE..

I have just spent the last 30 minutes reviewing the curriculum offered by this institute.
I'm really curious as to how many "members" posting on these threads are actual students here or buy books here related to many of the subject threads. YES..I do expect to order one book especially, .authored by Joyce.
Ron, this is a general thread where people drop small media snippets and the like which aren't worthy of an entirely new thread. You're welcome to start any new discussions you like, but its probably best we don't hijack this discussion. If you need assistance starting a new discussion, let us know (reply here) and we'll get you started.
There are a good number of us who are very passionate about these topics.
Dang it. I did not notice MrSchnapp's original post in this thread. If I had I would have said...
A "Dean Scream" video??? Are you sure you're not trying to start the "April 2004 low content thread"?
Now my snarky remarks will fall on deaf ears.

LOL. I only posted it because it was recently edited and updated to include Michael Ignatieff, the leader of the Liberal Party in Canada. I had to make some fun.

I listened to the interview with Robert Kiyosaki. What gets me about Kiyosaki is his misuse of language. For example, saying that a house is not an asset. Of course a house is an asset, although a mortgage wouldn't.
To paraphrase Marc Faber: We're all doomed, but that doesn't mean that we can't make money in the process. Rabbi Lapin: "Let's make bricks!" Stephan Kinsella: "Say you and I both want to make a German chocolate cake."
Daniel Muffinburg:I listened to the interview with Robert Kiyosaki. What gets me about Kiyosaki is his misuse of language. For example, saying that a house is not an asset. Of course a house is an asset, although a mortgage wouldn't.
We [you included] already discussed this here.
PHIL ALVIN’S MUSIC HISTORY LESSON: RECORD COMPANIES SELL FURNITURE
This is an interesting video. Musician Phil Alvin explains how record companies were really furniture companies who wanted to sell consumers their record players. I don't know if it's intentional, but the way he speaks of patents makes them out to be bad for consumers. He explains how Edison's patent on the phonograph caused Victor to come up with its own way of recording music, and even though it patented the process, it allowed everyone in the world to use this process, because it wanted people to make tons of records, that way it could sell many more of its record players. The final line of the video is pretty cool: Music lives in bars.
Came across this...thought it was pretty neat:

Yeah, I know. But I ended up listening the Kiyosaki interview after listening to the Wenzel interview.
