"

RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said this morning that his group rejects Paul's "misguided and extreme views" -- particularly those regarding aid to Israel.

"He's just so far outside of the mainstream of the Republican party and this organization," Brooks said. Inviting Paul to attend would be "like inviting Barack Obama to speak."

I lol'd. Not just because of the anti-semitic comment, but because when Paul and Stein went at it you couldn't understand what either one was saying and  then you had the woman in the middle waiting politely for her turn to talk. Her face being the epitome of :/

At last those coming came and they never looked back With blinding stars in their eyes but all they saw was black...

I was gonna make a Jewish bankers joke, but thought it inappropriate and badly representative of libertarian thought, so I decided to tell about making the joke instead.

"The tsarist police, in alliance with the landowners and the capitalists, organised progroms against the Jews. The landowners and capitalists tried to divert the hatred of the workers and peasants who were tortured by want against the Jews. ... It is not the Jews who are the enemies of the working people. The enemies of the workers are the capitalists of all countries. Among the Jews there are working people, and they form the majority. They are our brothers, who, like us, are oppressed by capital; they are our comrades in the struggle for socialism. ... The capitalists strive to sow and foment hatred between workers of different faiths, different nations and different races. ... Rich Jews, like rich Russians, and the rich in all countries, are in alliance to oppress, crush, rob, and disunite the workers. ... Shame on those who foment hatred towards the Jews, who foment hatred towards other nations." - Vladimir Lenin

If you're a Democrat, most of them will vote for you anyway nationally, but primary-wise, they tend to be a subgroup of the "white cultural leftist" bloc, so emphasizing feminism and gay lib will earn you more points than welfare and healthcare. If you're a Republican, it's not so much the (quite small but intellectually influencial among the neoconservative movement) Republican Jewish vote you're after, but the Evangelicals, who are solidly pro-Israel. I'd say it's easier to win as a Democrat than a Republican without the Jewish vote, because of that Evangelical connection.

I think this isn't good. I think that this time the Republican will get more of the Jewish vote than they did last time (although I doubt they'll win the Jewish vote as Harding was the only Republican since 1916 recorded to have won the Jewish vote and he only did so because the progressive vote was split).

I don't think it is quite right to say that all Jewish (or most) vote for Democratcs.

The NeoCons are on the right and they are the ones who are like "Likhud USA."

Obama said go back to 1967, Carter said 1967, Brzezinski has suggested we shoot down Israeli jets if they try to attack Iran over Iraqi airspace (and I agree).

Seems Jewish people would vote Republican if their priority is Israeli safety.  Other hand, Israel is basically a socialist state so maybe that is why they vote for democrats; the domestic policy.   No one votes based on anything but their domestic situtation.  Only when that can be altered by externals do people care about foreign policy.

60-70% of American Jewry identifies as Democrat, while 78% went for Obama in 2008, compared to 21% for McCain. You're certainly correct in regards to Democrats and Israel, but I think it's a mistake to reduce the entire Jewish vote down to that single issue; cultural leftism seems to be a bigger hook (15% of Jews in 2004 stated Israel as a key issue). Obviously, this will not be true of Orthodox Jewry, but as Sean Gabb remarked, they are a minority within a minority, and are very similar to the Amish or New Zealand's Exclusive Brethren in their social and political insularity.

It must also be noted though, that neocons are ideologically descended from Trotskyites and Lovestonites, and that the post-Kristol generation is warming up further to the cultural leftist agenda (witness, for instance, Jonah Goldberg's open-borderism or the New York Post's cheerleading of that state's gay marriage bill). It is indeed ironic Evangelicals should hold the opposite line on these fronts, but even they are moving leftward; witness Pat Robertson's endorsement of the pro-abortion, pro-gay, anti-gun Rudy Giuliani over the round peg of Huckabee.
