Many ideologies and religions are believable because people THINK strangers love them.
They simply overestimate those loves. Let's face it socialism is selfishness. It's the lazy selfishly try to rob the productive. Yet it's packaged as love to appeal to the mass.
Feminazism is selfishness. It selfishly demand everyone to ignore beauty and naturally promoted by the ugly. Yet it's packaged as love by claiming that the best jobs and deals, where beauty matters most, are too degrading.
Drug prohibition is mainly selfishness. It selfishly max out government control on what we can eat. Yet it's packaged as love as if the world care your kids die.
Religion is selfishness. It's there to maximize power of religious leaders and their followers. Yet it's packaged as love as they actually care you go to heaven. They don't.
Only capitalism is honest. And yes it's selfish too. But it's honest because it doesn't need to lie. We will all be better off if free market take care of everything.
You have a point that selfishness is prevalent everywhere, even when it seems counterintuitive (e.g., charity, love, etc.), but it is important to recognize that systems can't be selfish. Man acts, groups don't. The word "selfish" relates to the "self", implying an individual characteristic, so it doesn't make sense to call socialism or religion "selfish". The point is that men are selfish, and that systems cannot change this. Any system that tries to change man is potentially dangerous, and those who shape and desire such systems are fallible in that they, too, are selfish.
Can't help but think you're overgeneralizing just a tad.
“Many ideologies and religions are believable because people THINK strangers love them.”
Religion is an ideology, so your “many ideologies and religions” phrase is redundant. Whether ideologies are believable because they foster the belief strangers can love one depends on the love scale. Certainly a church community can foster love among its members in festivals and other groups meetings that sustain and strengthen goodwill. However, loving all of humanity is unlikely. Do you cry when you read obituaries? If not, you probably didn’t love the deceased too much.
“Let's face it socialism is selfishness. It's the lazy selfishly try to rob the productive. Yet it's packaged as love to appeal to the mass.”
Partially true, but many socialists believe there will be a New Socialist Man who is more altruistic than Capitalist Man. They believe socialism will increase altruism, not selfishness. Questionable? Yes. Are they purely selfish? Not so much.
“Feminazism is selfishness. It selfishly demand[s] everyone to ignore beauty and naturally promoted by the ugly.”
Can you give me examples of feminists who have done this? I want a point of reference.
“Drug prohibition is mainly selfishness.”
Drug prohibition is motivated be variety of factors. Controlling others ‘for their own good’ is one reason. Protecting Big Pharma from competition is another. Public fear that certain drugs are very dangerous is another.
“Religion is selfishness. It's there to maximize power of religious leaders and their followers. Yet it's packaged as love as they actually care you go to heaven. They don't.”
This oversimplifies religion. Yes, some religious leaders use their influence for private gain and don’t care about their followers, but others sincerely believe what they preach and do care about their listeners.
genepool is trolling and simply does know of what he speaks. Anyone who over simplifies religion and feminism without ever reading about either is doomed to turn himself into a strawman.
The irony of this is my signature quote. Taken from Plato's Symposium, that line is actually in reference to the god Love on the subject of love.
