Hi, I've been researching into the "Obamaphone" program, and I'd like to build a case for one of the sides of the argument, but I can't find any real intellectual arguments against the "Obamaphone" Program but, I've found plenty of arguments for it such as:

Do you agree that poor people deserve free phones? Why not? How will they get a job without one?
Thank you very much for the response!
Why do they need a phone?
You can't find arguments against it? You're not trying hard enough.
Because the argument is by extention. If you're against taxation, compulsive charity, and higher government spending generally you're against obamaphone.
Another person's need does not create an obligation to care for that need in others with the ability to pay. That's what it comes down to.
What about free clothes too? Can't get a job nekid, can ya? (ok, depends on the job)
And food! Free food too! Can't get a job if you starved to death, right?
And free child care! Can't get to an interview if you have to also keep an eye on the welfare larvae.
And a free car! Can't rely on the bus - what if they go on strike?
i havent had a phone all year.
Noone deserves phones. Neither poor nor rich. Though they may get some via peaceful exchange.
ON EDIT: to generalize, most people here are against the concept of positive rights. Look it up.
Let's write a letter back in time to John Adams and tell him of the horror of denying people the rights to phones.
If something must be provided to you by the initiation of force against other people, it's not a "right" at all.
