So I'm doing this debate on a website called debate.org ( http://www.debate.org/debates/We-do-not-need-the-State-to-help-us-live-our-lives./1/ ). The topic of the debate is that we do not need a State to help us live our lives and I challenge my opponent to name a single topic where government is...

I originally posted this to my tumblr and someone suggested that I post it to the Mises forums so that the responses could change my mind. I doubt it, but I'm doing it anyway. I used to be one of those “aggression/threats are inherently immoral” type of libertarian, but I’ve come...

I've been having trouble following the logic of AnCaps who condemn democracy yet advocate the complete abolishment of government. If you abolish the government, does it not become pure democracy? Who will decide the rules of society if not the majority of the people in that society?

Only I've encountered some problems with this view. First of all, who would pay the private prison company...

I felt compelled to write here for a few reasons not least because I would like to expand my own understanding of certain issues and also I would liked to be challenged and critiqued...

http://patrickkeefe.wordpress.com/2009/06/05/a-pro-life-and-proliberty-strategy/ The only thing I disagree with is the "vote with your hands" part for the obvious reasons. And I would only vote with the feet by moving to NH. But the rest is spot-on. Have lots of babies and raise them in the...

I don't consider myself an anarchist, at least not yet. One huge intellectual roadblock I am having preventing me from accepting anarchy is how it can be sustained. Who is to prevent a government from forming, or a powerful elite from taking over and acting as a de facto government? What if somebody...
