  • Scottish Independence

In 2014, people in Scotland age 16 or over will be able to vote to decide whether or not Scotland should remain part of the UK or become an independent country. On the face of it, secession seems like it would be a good idea (smaller country, more decentralization); however, all of Scotland's major...

  • The Federal government will collapse, says libertarian politician

This man is a bit religious but he has it right. The FED won't be alive that much longer. When Dr. Paul becomes president I'm sure NH and all other states will end up seceding which can be a great start moving towards a voluntary society.

  • Abraham Lincoln the Dictator

I always hear Abraham Lincoln was like a dictator and trampled on the Constitution. Besides how he didn't allow the southern states to secede without waging war against them, what else did he do that 'trampled on the Constitution'? I heard he suspended habeus corpus during the Civil War....

Over at Let A Thousand Nations Bloom - a blog focused on political decentralization of various sorts including market anarchism, seasteading, and federalism - we're running our second annual Secession Week . • State resurgence after secession and privatization

Reading Hoppe description of how the state emerged through an endogenous process (http://mises.org/etexts/intellectuals.asp)[1], how can we expect that even after a process of secession and privatization the natural order could remain as such? In other words, albeit I understand that history does not...

  • "Private option" for government?

I know Ron Paul has mentioned support of this sort of proposal before, but I wasn't really able to find much else on this idea. Has there been any thought given to promotion of a "Private option" for government? That is, people voluntarily giving up their "protections" like police...

  • Any Chance of Secessions?

  • Connecticut Secession

I'm from Connecticut and I believe that it ought to secede from the Union. Here are a couple practical reasons. These arguments are based on the premise that there will be a government; the benefits of a truly voluntary society are acknowledged by I wanted to approach this argument based on the assumption...

  • Hoppe strategy of municipality secession

When it comes to anarcho-capitalist strategy, it seems to me that many ideas floating around are a little ridiculous, such as staging a Maoist guerrilla war. I agree that it is time to take the next step in the advancement of our cause, but does anyone else think that perhaps we are making things too...
