The Post Office SUCKS!

    Newsflash: Government monopoly fails.  Again.  As usual.

    On September 6 I ordered an item of apparel (a Ron Paul t-shirt) online.  On the ninth it was shipped via UPS from Ohio to a warehouse in New York City, arriving on the twealth.  It has not moved since.

     Need we really speculate about why?  USPS is not responsible to the consumer, being a government monopoly (our oldest and most maligned, too) it is responsible to the government.  To my knowledge only twice in its history has the USPS turned a profit.  Every other year Congress has voted money to make up the balance.  Think about that.  A "business" that's been failing for 232 years.  Makes you want to go "wtf?"  Congress has legislated restrictions on competitors' pricing.  It's outrageous.

You do of course realize UPS and USPS are two completely separate entities...

UPS = United Parcel Service

USPS = United States Postal Service

I'm sorry.  USPS took over at the warehouse and did not ship the item.

The Postal Service exists (21st Century) to provide Third Class "junk mail" service. It is very successful, offering far better service than First Class mail. Advertizers can track their mail, schedule dated mail to arrive on a specific day, and know if and when it is delivered. Email is replacing First Classs mail except for legal documents, which are few among the millions of pieces of mail. First Class mail is cheap, a financial loss when dropped in the Post Office. I know of one small business (less than 20 employees) that paid the U.S. Postal Service over $2 million in 2008 for Third Class Mail service.

In today’ s struggling economy, a good credit score is more important than ever. A credit score that was good enough to get a loan in the past may not cut it as easily today. Creditors are tightening the reins on lending, while credit scores are increasingly
