Lew Rockwell was prescient when he delivered this speech over 13 years ago.

"This speech was delivered near the imperial capital on October 6, 1996."

"The modern institution of the presidency is the primary political evil Americans face, and the cause of nearly all our woes. It squanders the national wealth and starts unjust wars against foreign peoples that have never done us any harm. It wrecks our families, tramples on our rights, invades our communities, and spies on our bank accounts. It skews the culture toward decadence and trash. It tells lie after lie."

The speech goes on to describe the true nature of the U.S. Presidency. Sept. 11th, the resulting Home Land Security Dept., Iraq War II, expanding involvement in Afghanistan (does anyone remember bin Laden?) the Sept. '08 collapse of the entire economy, $12 trillion in debt, $1.5 trillion deficits, ZIRP, quantitative easing, and the Christmas Day bomber with the resulting 1000 X-ray scanners were all in the future. Yet, all of these things were seen to be inevitable when one uses sound economic and political thinking.

Maybe more people ought to take notice?

"The market is a process." - Ludwig von Mises, as related by Israel Kirzner.   "Capital formation is a beautiful thing" - Chloe732.
