I've noticed the star rating system has become nothing better than a way for ideologues to snipe threads they can't actually contribute any meaningful comment to, forcing the supporters of the thread to counter-vote the thread up with five-star ratings.

The whole voting scheme is simply unbecoming of an academic discussion board and just makes the forums appear juvenile and hostile. It discourages discussion and legitimate questions and provides no real benefit to sort out the good threads from the bad.

Star ratings should be done away with entirely.

the whole time i've been here i've never understood the star ratings and blindly don't pay attention to them.  some threads have them others don't and i never really paid that much attention to them except i noticed they are yellow.  i go to the thread i like and read.  respond to posts i find worthwhile of a response and move on.  didn't realize the star system had a system to it and an actual 'battle' going on with it.  the things that go on that i don't even pay attention to.  it would be a no loss to me if they go but they've been a no loss to me being here as one could say they've already been gone in my eyes.  i see no value in them

Indeed an unneeded feature. Reminds me of the ‘peer review’ in sciences.

The Regression theorem is a memetic equivalent of the Theory of Evolution. To say that the former precludes the free emergence of fiat currencies makes no more sense that to hold that the latter precludes the natural emergence of multicellular organisms.

I couldn't agree more.

I'm sorry, seeing as this is less than a five star post, your opinion counts for naught.

Looking at the forum now, it would seem that all this thread post did... was serve to make the "problem" worse.

Ron Paul is for self-government when compared to the Constitution. He's an anarcho-capitalist. Proof.

Let’s keep this thread always in the top 5, by posting silly if need be, hoping than someone will notice.

Who cares? The issue abated and all you're doing is stirring it up again. When will "central planners" ever learn. Confused
