Bow down on tremble before his mighty onslaught. He has come to slay the dragon that is Austrian Economics.
Quickly! Someone refute him before we are buried under the logical fallacies!
'Men do not change, they unmask themselves' - Germaine de Stael
Austrian Economics is doomed!!! Doomed I tells ya!!
While we wait for our destruction from a socialist who prides himself on going to a bourgeois school and learning bourgeois economics.
Wait; are we the neo-fascist capitalist white man because Austrians are really fascists who hate poor people and workers or the American Indian because we're about to be nearly wiped out by his intellectual attack equivalent to smallpox infected blankets?
Having skipped through the first minute and a half of an introduction, I listened (and ignored how about Austrian economics is apparently supply-side economics) until I got to the part about how Ron Paul and Schiff are the two main Austrian Economists of today. That's where I stopped, and gave him a 1 star rating. I can't believe he managed to ad hominem a strawman as his first argument. I'm surprised adults who should know better would go on youtube and post up something as badly researched as this.
He's apparently only laying the groundwork. His next video will conclusively show that AE is evil, stupid, and wrong.
Andrew Cain: Quickly! Someone refute him before we are buried under the logical fallacies!
Too late..
Anyone knows who his pusher is? I'd like to avoid smoking what he's on right now...
CrazyCoot: Wait; are we the neo-fascist capitalist white man because Austrians are really fascists who hate poor people and workers or the American Indian because we're about to be nearly wiped out by his intellectual attack equivalent to smallpox infected blankets?
No! We're the silly 'savages' who cling to obsolete beliefs and our wonderful overlord is coming to civilize us in the matter of economic theory because he has a degree. Run to the hills my brother, run to the hills.
We must pray to the god LewRo so that he may protect us from the mighty degree boomstick.

LMAO! I read these comments before watching the vid and I've already seen it before and as soon as I read this I was just like "oh my god please let it be Radio Hogan
At any rate this man is an idiot. He spent about 30 seconds actually constructing an argument rather than blaming it on the lack of supposed intellectual background (which might have actually been a point if he'd backed it up with why and told more about how many Austrians there actually are). Comparing Libertarianism to fascism is idiotic, and especially considering the context that he used it in which was anti bourgeoisie which is more socialist!
And in a simple response to his only actual argument, how is it that an increase in demand will fix anything when the structure of production is unfit to supply this demand?
I wont waste any more of my breath...
"also called supply siders", I lol'd.
He fails at trying to be charismatic.
To paraphrase Marc Faber: We're all doomed, but that doesn't mean that we can't make money in the process. Rabbi Lapin: "Let's make bricks!" Stephan Kinsella: "Say you and I both want to make a German chocolate cake."
And the guy keeps faulting Peter Schiff and Ron Paul and others for not having degrees in economics. I think we found Giles' youtube channel. Lol.
I had to stop it as soon as he called Austrians "supply-side economics."
My personal Anarcho-Capitalist flag. The symbol in the center stands for "harmony" and "protection"-- I'm hoping to illustrate the bond between order/justice and anarchy.
Austrians reject cutting taxes during recessions, making them supply-siders. Interesting.
"If we wish to preserve a free society, it is essential that we recognize that the desirability of a particular object is not sufficient justification for the use of coercion."
I responded, lets see if he likes to rebut in an honest manner.

Aw it cut off when you started talking about labor. It was good stuff as always though attis.
I notice that Youtube doesn't like to upload from webcam correctly. I have no clue as to the source of the errors. Typical disservice, I know. Anyways, my point on labor was that it can't be foresaken for production or profit nor can the others be foresaken for labor.
ladyattis:I responded, lets see if he likes to rebut in an honest manner.
link it please.
Here you go, it cuts off about a minute for no good reasons. I need to stop using that damn webcam upload option, it's a total failure.
Be careful Attis. This guy plays by 'old neighborhood rules' not 'bourgeois rules of good debate.'
Well I'm Rocky and he's Clubber Lang. :3
So I guess this forum ought to be closed down at the LvMI sold off to the SPLC; we must recant our neo-fascist libertarian inclinations and accept that we were wrong.
On a side note: Radiohogan commented on one of his one videos that his father liked the Depression because it brought people together. There was also another comment about this economic crisis, and by extension other ones, being good because it raised the possibility of the affluent feeling what the poor feel.
Hoppe actually detailed this whole "brings people together" nonsense in the case of Eastern Europe, where he mentioned IIRC people huddling together because of the lack of heating.
Freedom of markets is positively correlated with the degree of evolution in any society...

Israel Kirzner is still alive.

I love the colour scheme, it really helps with this migraine.

Wow, he even picks the right colour to attract animosity. What a statist crank.

JosephBright:Israel Kirzner is still alive.
I wasn't sure. It was a while since I read his biography.
In the comments from 4 days ago of one of his vids by him: "Look for my upcoming video "Austrian School Evil.""
This is gonna be fun :)
What a joke. Utter stupidity...

What annoys me more is he looks a bit like one of my professors, who I actually like.

Dido! Did you happen to go to GMU? This guy looks just like my econometrics professor

No, no I study Theoretical Physics in the UK. The guy looks like our senior tutor. Think it would be either hell or sadistic comedy to have that guy as a professor, let alone for econometrics!
Also, you're at GMU?
For those who understandably don't want to waste nine minutes listening to this guy, here is a recap of his entire "argument":
First, he has a degree in economics.
1) Ron Paul & Peter Schiff are the best known Austrians, but they don't have economics degrees, 2) Austrians are supply siders,3) Austrians tell him with internet replies that they believe these things, 4) Austrians concentrate on the consumer, they want to increase supply to lower prices, 5) The correct approach is go back to Keynes and fill in aggregate demand with government spending, 6) Austrians have been discredited because they don't have economics degrees, Austrians don't believe in degrees, it is a LIbertarian thing, 7) Austrians are anti-intellectual, there are two books that say so, 8) What University hires Austrians? 9) We say that Keynes is passe, and his ideas died when he did. 10) There are no significant Universities that have Austrian professors. 11) By comparison, there are many Keynesian professors at Universities such as Cambridge and Princeton, where Paul Krugman teaches and "he writes for the New York Times", and Stiglitz is at Columbia. 12) We are "silly gooses".
That is the entire argument.
"The market is a process." - Ludwig von Mises, as related by Israel Kirzner. "Capital formation is a beautiful thing" - Chloe732.
ladyattis, you are actually a man. I am disappointed.
P.S. The guy linked in the OP is a tool. It's better if we just ignore him. There really is no point to refuting something that has no anchor in reality. Refuting him is equivalent to a scientist refuting someone who is exclaiming "we live in a static universe in which everything revolves our flat earth!"

See, there you go with the name calling. That's all Austrians do is call people names, because they're uber-reactionary neo-confederate closet racist fascists.
I watched that guy about a year ago and he was rambling nonsense then, just as he is now.
