This is both sad and funny at the same time. Banning candy?
I suppose if you look at it from a private property point of view, the school has the right to do it. Of course, needless to say that if this were privatised, the school would lose students quite quickly if it tried to enforce these draconian measures.
If this school is a public one (as it seems), then I don't understand why they have the right to ban anything on their property since they don't own themselves - the taxpayers own them, and I'm not sure if the taxpayers were asked what they thought.
Then again, we have to remind ourselves that the government and its institutions are often above their own laws.
