Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction... I'm not a big fan of the guy who coined that quote but it seems to fit this video quite well... I'm happy she had a video camera... So I guess the question for discussion in this thread should be something along the lines of, How do you feel about the FBI showing up at the homes of American citizens to interrogate them in response to their peaceful protests where they voice their opinion on foreign policy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0xwauFSOEo NOTE: Please keep the Israel/Palestine/Zionism/etc debate out of the thread as much as possible and stick to the issue at hand in the OP which is the FBI showing up at our homes... (Note: That the video incorrectly states that the 1st amendment gives you the right to remain silent. It's actually the 5th.)
I have no problem with it. If they think this woman might have useful information, it's their job to investigate. If she doesn't want to talk to them, she doesn't have to.
EDIT: Honestly, I think we need more info on what happened here to make any meaningful conclusions. How do we know that someone in that area didn't call the cops about these people and that the cops didn't relay the information to the FBI?
That sounds fine if you look at it as an isolated incident I guess.
But when I look at it with my patriot act, indefinite detention, torture, jaded eyes... I guess that might be a reason it freaks me out...
I don't even have to watch the video, nor do I care what what has to say. FBI questioning of people based on their political views is unequivocally bad news in my book. The State deciding she is a potential "threat" doesn't fly for me that gives them way too much leeway. Not a "threat" today, possibly a "threat" tomorrow, depending on the whims of the public mood and the party in power. I'd rather pass, thanks.
