A commercial had the Obama voice talking about free food banks without food. Is this for real?

I do not know where to start on the ways this Obama is at best selling snake oil and at worst telling outright lies.

The obvious point is that the most significant health problem facing US citizens is not hunger but obesity.

The biggest factor in preventing people from being able to obtain food is the USA Federal Government.  The regulatory system prevents people from selling food to one another through a wide variety of agencies, subsidies, prohibitions and outright violence.  The Feds crowd people who want to supply food by providing subsidies to their competitors.  Then the Feds turn around and gives people money not to grow food to keep prices high.  It uses horribly violent attacks on people who deal in food not processed in their particular veiw of how it should be processed.  Of course these policies help large well connected suppliers at the expense of small entrepreneurs.

And despite the best efforts and power of the Feds, small entrepreneurs manage to supply the food people want.  And the penalty for this has been military style raids on people who do such terrible things as supply cannibus to sick people and distribute raw milk.
