Hello all, first time poster, long time Mises reader here. I would like to use this thread to discuss a work of libertarian fiction I am currently working on. The work is largely inspired by the great Withur We by Jeremiah Dyke that was posted here several months ago. Anyways, my novel is still a work in progress, so I can only offer a small sample. Enjoy.

"Quickly son, we need more liberty, those damn fleet footed statists took all of ours," Ron Paul exacerbatedly barked from his office at the top floor of Freedom HQ.

"On it, dad," Rand Paul replied, already in mid dash.

With adroitness and celerity, Rand sprinted outside with jackrabbit like speed. Within seconds of reaching the parking garage Rand deftly dove head first through the open window of his late model Dodge Charger sporting ultra-chic 'FREDM' vanity plates. Rush's Anthem began to blast from the Charger's speakers as Rand slammed the accelerator in the direction of the freeway (that is 'free'way in the truest sense of the word - a road constructed by private enterprise, funded by tolls, and built without the coercive influence of statist violence). Rand's freewheeling spirit would not let them get away, not this time. “In the name of liberty, I'll stop those thieving statists,” Rand shouted at his steering wheel, bits of spittle flying from his mouth like a man possessed, possessed by liberty.

As Rand flew down the freeway's well-constructed, well-maintained, speed-limitless ways Rush's Red Barchetta began to play. For a brief moment Rand felt sullen as he pondered the terrible state humanity would be in had the r[evol]ution not come. Rand thought to himself, “my god, 'motor laws' can you believe it? The tyranny of it, by freedom, the tyranny of it!”

Rand regained his composer as he slowed his vehicle's velocity to pass through another not-too-inconvenient tollbooth, his resolve bolstered by the knowledge that this drive had not been predicated on the violence of state coercion.

As the Charger's engine roared, its single purpose at that moment to reattain its maximum speed, the sun began to set in the distance. Looking across the horizon Rand thought to himself “darkness or light, the statists cannot stop me. Nothing can stop the power of liberty.”

"No Dad!" Rand shouted. "I must kill the Neo-Cons!"

"No, son," Ron said, "you ARE the Neo-Cons!"

and then, Rand was a Statist

"Rand regained his composer"

I think you mean composure. That'd be pretty strange to have a composer following you around town, unless you're Ayn Rand.

“Remove justice,” St. Augustine asks, “and what are kingdoms but gangs of criminals on a large scale? What are criminal gangs but petty kingdoms?”

Withur We was written by Mattew Alexander

Read until you have something to write...Write until you have nothing to write...when you have nothing to write, read...read until you have something to write...Jeremiah

Do I need to point out the obvious here?

The keyboard is mightier than the gun.

Non parit potestas ipsius auctoritatem.

I like the Rush reference at least.
