Freedomain Radio community forums.
I have been on a number of website forums and I must say that this is the first place I have ever seen anyone banned for writing posts too long or too frequent, without that writer having done something like be nasty.
Well, don't take my word for it. You be the judge yourself: http://board.freedomainradio.com/forums/p/33572/258558.aspx
The moderator provides his reasons for banning the guy: http://board.freedomainradio.com/forums/t/33572.aspx?PageIndex=2
And finally, the banner and one of his pals show what I feel to be their true nature (scroll to the bottom): http://board.freedomainradio.com/forums/t/33572.aspx?PageIndex=12
Frankly, I am not really sure what their problem with him is. I know he likes to write extensively. He seems like a nice guy who makes decent videos, but that's just my opinion: http://www.youtube.com/user/Spefbot
If you feel like this kind of treatment is good, that's fine. I personally won't bother them. I say let people associate with whoever they want. It's just that I thought I would provide some advance information on a place you might like to start off with but run into unpleasantness down the road. That is, unless you are the kind who likes to be in an exclusive resort or country club.
This is not to say I don't like and respect the owner, Stefan Molyneux. I just find that the company he keeps (probably not the majority) seems kind of cranky. Maybe it's just what kids do.
Hehe, the guy looks funny. Haven't seen all the videos, but they might be something interesting to look at, though he does appear to believe in provvable ethics...
lol they're silly. I think the post in contention was someone asking "Is liberty your job? why not" and that guy responded by posting a link to his website and saying he will make videos about a particular topic and just asked for a donation. Everyone got upset at him and they were liek "What the fuck?!" "I don't understand" "Please refrain from making another post on these boards". No one could understand that his point was that "liberty" was a job for him and they banned him for really no reason.
Haha well that was some good entertainment. The drama that goes on in message boards like that is just as simple-minded as watching some reality show like the Kardashians, real petty stuff.. lol I had to stop myself from reading more than 4 pages of that thread.
Ah...
Competition is a sin, I guess.
I have seen on several forums that might discuss alternative information full with posts from deranged individuals. It can be very off putting to new people and it can completely destroy threads by diverting them off topic and trying to argue against bad arguments.
It would be like sitting on the forum of your favourite sports teams arch rival. Then making posts that completely interrupt conversation. But in a very intelligent, systematic and confusing way.
I have not been on freedomain forum before, but from the way they have described this user it seems consistent with that I suspect is a concerted effort to disrupt these sorts of forums or they simply attract deranged individuals who seem to post frequently.
Aww I ended up getting sucked into reading more about that drama on freedomain forums.
After reading a lot of his posts to see exactly what the problem everyone had with him...I don't get it at all. There were plenty of posters who had no problem with him and thought his posts were informative and clear- and others that would just get angry and were all like "I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!!! BAN HIM!" . English isn't his first language- he tries real hard to be clear but just writes in a more interesting way than the average guy. I also noticed everyone calling for his ban sound like a bunch of babies. "I enjoy this forum less because of you!" like jesus christ just scroll down and ignore him if you don't feel like reading what he said.
This is the kind of complaints they have:
"Most of the time when I read his posts at the end I can't remember what he said at the beginning."
lol someone tried to defend him too:
David kopp: I have read a lot of his posts and not once have I found them incomprehensible. I think a lot of that lies on you more than him.
Hajnal: How is it that you understand his posts and not me or others? Do you just try harder or something?
Oh well
I don't get the situation. Is it possible to read at least one thread you made, so I could make an impression of what type of things you were posting? Because that particular thread only shows the discussion of banning, but not the "problem" itself (posts that are somehow too long or incoherent).
I personally hate bannings of people, who just want serious discussion, for no clear reson. I am ok with banning of obvious trolls or people, who post countless threads and do not show up to discuss them later (and act like trolls, infact). For example I would understand if somone banned Eugene (no offense, pal :D ) but still... FDR is just like any other board with its internal rules and "evils", so if you don't like it, just stop posting there. FDR is still a good source of libertarian material, especially on parenting and education. It sucks though, if you want deeper understanding in economics. That's why I'm on mises.
(english is not my native language, sorry for grammar.)
I just found out from the site owner that the guy who got in trouble apparently used profanity against another member, which is against board rules.
It would have been nice if the moderator had stated this, otherwise I might have not even bothered. In fact, that whole thread would have been a waste. Because banning someone for what appears as something silly can obviously make people mad.
