That should go in the low content quote thread, there is a certain essence to it. I know of two things; writing drunk and writing in the moment (or mood). It's easy to write, to do something that requires research, but to write with finesse is something else. I mainly write poetry, if I like something enough that I can utilize in a song I will, sometimes it's disregarded. It can be a tiring process to actually write a piece that can just stand alone as something to be proud of. Some of the best things I've written either are in the moment or done drunk, especially on poetry, it's something that cannot be forced.
My family's paycheck arrival coincided with the arrival of our PROPERTY TAX. Oh yeah, we need to work really hard so our money can be confiscated by the mafia.
This, however, does not generalise to coding - every time I coded while drunk, I cursed the next day, and threw everything away. So don't drink and code, but do drink and write.
Just hearing Hillary 'Barf Bag' Clinton spouting out crap on the news about "Syria having chemical weapons." Honestly, when are people going to quit falling for this BS?
*vent mode on*
So I come home to my parents' house for the weekend after a long week of work, tired and burnt out. As we're eating dinner my dad basically tells me "people like you" are going to cause a recession when we go over the fiscal cliff because I adjusted my portfolio to be more conservative until the fiscal cliff has passed. That people like me are going to "freeze" and "not do anything" which will destroy the economy. I gotta come home to this shit? I was too tired to argue. :(
It sucks that my dad, one of the only people IRL that I can actually discuss economics with, basically parrots whatever the New York Times, MSNBC and CNN tell him. With all the talk lately about Rand Paul being a disappointment to his father, it made me think I'm probably an even bigger disappointment to my New York Times-liberal dad. :P
The mayor of my city declared that because of the heavy snowfalls owners of cars get free ride on public transportation (basically, your car ownership papers serve as a ticket). Everyone is celebrating the wisdom of the ruler, except me. I tried to ask on FB who is going to pay for these freebies (not to mention problems with getting into already overflown buses), and the shit hit the fan. I was already "accused" of being an orthodox ancap (they really thought it's an insult), despite me being quite civil and not even calling them a bunch of socialists.
Ah, I feel better now.
This is the problem with many anticapitalists. It reminds me of when one of them called Ron Paul a neoliberal.
To paraphrase Marc Faber: We're all doomed, but that doesn't mean that we can't make money in the process. Rabbi Lapin: "Let's make bricks!" Stephan Kinsella: "Say you and I both want to make a German chocolate cake."
This girl on my FB feed won't stop talking about Elizabeth Warren being awesome. She has campaigned for her extensively and has tons of pics with her.
Sigh.
Be sure to send her some of the great stuff in this thread...
I can't decide whether or not Neo-Liberal is actually a position or a strawman used by the left...
I also fail to see exactly what the left argues is so absolutely awful about it...
I really wanted to post this on FB, but I feared I might get hated to hell:
We don't live in Minority Report, and we shouldn't buy the Nirvana fallacy. Some crime really is unpredictable, regardless of the gun control you enact.
"Regardless"? Not "because of it"?
Neodoxy: I can't decide whether or not Neo-Liberal is actually a position or a strawman used by the left... I also fail to see exactly what the left argues is so absolutely awful about it...
This is a pretty good explanation I think, from wikipedia:
"The rise of neoliberalism in the 1970s as a practical system of government saw it implemented in various forms across the world. In some cases, the result was not anything that could be identified as neoliberalism, often with catastrophic results for the poor. This has resulted in many on the left claiming that this is a deliberate goal of neoliberalism, while those on the right defend the original goals of neoliberalism and insist otherwise[...]"
When this forum goes we're all fucked. /rant
Check out my professor's response to me quoting Thomas DiLorenzo and Tom Woods for a paper on Lincoln:
Wow, who knew that "greatness" was a fact!
The keyboard is mightier than the gun.
Non parit potestas ipsius auctoritatem.
Voluntaryism Forum
I like how your professor included no criticisms of DiLorenzo other than "hurr durr he's a confederate weirdo".
Heather:This is a good example of why libertarians are really not conservatives.
And this, class, is an example of why red is not the number 7.
Some Leftists are really intellectually sensitive...
Celebrities. They make me sick.
Also, my parents are watching a "musical" film called "Joyful Noise," in the other room. *headdesk against desk corner*
"RAISE the GAS TAX for all needed Revenue, and stop the GROWTH of Government into our Lives."
Comment from Autoblog... My neck has a muscle so tight to where I've achieved taco neck.
Just saw Django Unchained. Where the duce was Lysander Spooner?
Also, some idiot woman wouldn't get her little rugrat to shut up in the theater.
The rant I want to say about the GOP in Alaska should not be recorded in writing so I will be brief. I worked so freaking hard organizing the whole thing and took time off work to fly almost 2,000 miles, TWICE. In addition to paying 270 bucks just to attend those stupid conventions where we were treated like crap just so this can happen?!! SOOO PISSSEDDDD OFFF RIGHTTT NOWWW!!!!

In Massachusetts.
So do the foaming mouth Obama supporters in DC today hate the children of Pakistan, Yemen, and Afghanistan, or does their stunning decision to support a murderer stem from apathy to executively ordered human anguish?
So apparently the individual mandate reduces moral hazard because now people won't be encouraged to wait until they get sick to get insurance! So because we have laws that prevent turning people being turned down, we need more laws to make sure people don't rely on those laws! Gov't intervention is both the problem and the solution!
