I was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to get property and build a house, while avoiding all of the bad laws that the government has laid out for us.  I am a 21 year old girl who is having bad troubles at home, and I need to find a new place to live.  I just had a bad conversation with my mother yesterday about it.  I said "I need to get out of this house and make a home for myself" My mother then said, "and how, exactly are you going to do that?" I said, "I will find some unowned property and then build a very small cabin for myself on it and grow my own crops." Then my mother said: "You are not living in reality.  You can't do that nowadays. Why don't you just accept things the way they are, Nicole."
I was just wondering if anyone had found success without being a slave to this government? I live in the Pacific NorthWest

Have you ever farmed at all Nicole?   How about building a cabin?  Even if you could find land to claim farming is hard work and not as easy as just planting seeds in the ground.

In spite of the badness of government we live in society that has a division of labor which makes life easy for us.  That is an advantage that so far has trumped government's interferences and predations.

You do not have to accept things the way they are but I think your mother offers good advice.  But at the same time I do not want to discourage you from trying something interesting.  Perhaps get a job and then make a goal of either starting a business later or something.  Or plan for a better career.  The rule for business is to find something people want or need and sell it to them.   (easier said than done but a rewarding effort)  The Goal with employment is to find something that is in demand that hardly anyone can do and learn to do it. (also easier said than done..but worth the effort..I got into SCADA this way and if you do not know what that is that is more money for me.).

So maybe get a job...any employment history is better than none and any money is better than none.  Continue your quest for free land but may I suggest a yurt instead of a cabin?  Its portable at least.

No one has found success yet (that we know of) but many of us are working on it.
