I just bought a Rothbard shirt and two short books from the LvMI store, and I had to pay 0$ tax, how come, I'm not a US Citizen so I don't know everything about US tax laws, but what I know is that I have to pay tax on cheetos from 7/11 in the US, how come I had to pay no taxes at all for the stuff from LvMI?
Anyway, it's awesome that I didn't have to, but I just wanna know the reason.
I think it may have to do with the LvMI being considered a non-profit organization. But don't quote me on it.
LvMI may not be setup to collect taxes for others states, and thus if you are outside Alabama, you might not be a target for that state's tax. I know when I buy from the LvMI store, I do not pay tax as a foreigner who is receiving the goods outside the US.
However, I am responsible for paying my domestic provinicial (state) and federal sales taxes when it gets here. Funny how my government takes a cut of someone else's transaction, isn't it?
I live in PA, and I didn't pay any tax on Democracy: The God that Failed when I bought it this past summer.
Pro Christo et Libertate integre!
I had it ship to California.
Probably it's that sales tax thingy, where only consumers in the state of the business has to pay tax (and N.Y.).
