Some time ago, while discussing the ideal cast for Atlas Shrugged (the movie), I came with the idea of making it an animated series, a la Bruce Timm.

Here is the post in my blog:

http://libertarioyateo.blogspot.com/2008/07/y-si-hacemos-una-serie-animada.html

The dark atmosphere and the deco style of Batman Animated would blend very well with the subject of the book. And the budget would make that option much more attractive than an ordinary real action series. And it has the added advantage that it will instantly appeal to kids and teenagers. Just imagine: Atlas Shrugged, comes to Cartoon Network.

Then, checking if there has ever been some attempt at it, I found this blog:

The owner, Amy, made some drawings showing her views of the characters.

I loved the drawings. I would just make Hank Rearden older, like Tom Selleck when he was on Friends, but hers is fine anyway.

That reinforced my idea so I browsed until I found Paul Dini (Executive Producer of all those Animated series) and sent him an email.

I didn't get an answer yet, but.. well.. I had to try.

Interesting idea.  Why not?  However, translating it into an animated movie would face the same kind of problems as translating it to a live action movie.  I would prefer it to be done as a limited series, and give it plenty of time to develop and resolve the story, although I'm not sure if Cartoon Network would really be willing to carry it.  Maybe as a pitch for animated "Great Literature"?

Yes, a limited series is my idea too.  An adult theme in an animated fashion would fit well with the CN japanime shows played around midnight, that are intended for young adults.

I'm all for it if they can hire the animators that did the Batman: The Animated Series. I loved their style since the first episode of that show. :3

I would sell my soul to see Bruce Timm do this, or at least a series based off of Atlas Shrugged.  I'm not a very good drawer now, but when I get the time to get serious, Timm's Dark Deco will be the first thing I tackle.

Now to man ebay & look for some Batman: TAS artbooks for future referrence...
