A scenario:

You're eating by yourself in a restaurant when someone taps you on the shoulder and informs you that if you don't quietly hand over your wallet, you'll be in a world of hurt.  You hand it over and watch him walk out of the restaurant with it.

Question:

Were you forced to hand over your wallet?

If you answered yes, then this thread is for you.

What if the person demanding your wallet was a three-year-old boy?  What if it was Mike Tyson?  What if you had a steak knife in your hand when he turned his back to you?  What if he had a gun?  What if you had a gun?

The point is you don't have enough information to answer the first question.

Force is contextual.  Force is only force when it works.

So what are the implications?  First, notice the relationship between your susceptibility to force and your own personal power.  The more power you have the less you can be forced into things.

Second, take a second look at all the things you take for granted as being forced.

We most certainly are victims in many ways, but don't think like one.  You have more options than you realize.  And don't run away from power just because you've seen others abuse it.  Seek power, legitimate power, and use it to make yourself more free (and if you care, the world).

This, of course, is completely confusing the issue. It does not matter who, or in what "context," initiatory force is used. It remains as such. This is a threat of violence, plain and simple. It matters not one iota who the threat comes from or what your relative weaponry is.

Confusing what issue?  Are we talking about the same thing?  No where in my post did I condone threatening/forceful actions.
