This video made its way onto YouTube a few hours ago. In it, Ahmadinejad claims that he will not bailout banks or enslave his people with debt, as Bush has done and Obama plans to do. He also claims to be studying Austrian economics.
I caution you not to trust the translation as verified. I looked around on Google for an accompanying story, as I find it hard to believe that it's true given that the Iranian government hasn't been too concerned with the rights of the people before.
Actually, that would suprise me less than an announcement that, say, Obama was studying Austrian economics. Islam as a whole has generally been more friendly towards things like gold currency than the West. I agree with you about the translation, though; it needs to be verified as accurate.

Ahmadinejad is under a lot of pressure to figure out economics, because domestically he has totally mismanaged the economy.
I've always said that Islam and Austrian economics have some commonalities when it comes to property rights.
Check presstv.ir . That is the Iranian state supported global news service (poor man's BBC). They should be covering this if it is genuine.

Yes, I think it would make better satire to hear Obama saying this stuff.
Strange vid, lol
im pretty convinced that the translation to is a fake. if you listen to the audio you never hear any words that sound remotely like ron paul or peter schiff. however i guess its possible that they love ron paul and peter schiff so much that they made up their own words for them.

impretty sure what you saw was a fake and that there is more truth to the above video

The Iranian economy is made up of a small number of oligarchs who own everything that isn't owned by the government. The Iranians need to reform much more than their currency.
How in debt could they be anyway? It's not as if the Islamic republic has ever had a credit rating worth mentioning.
PS: The one who has argued strongly for hard currency as a strategic goal is Osama Bin Laden's demented little side-kick, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

did you miss the part in the title where is says "(spoof"), and the video description box where it says it is fake?

Originally it was put up without those things on it.
Where I come from, the women don't glow, but the men definitely plunder.
Bin Laden studied economics. He knew enough of the Austrian theory to believe that he could bankrupt the American government by goading the US into a war in Afghanistan. And he would have been right if George Tenet's CIA had not bought out the Northern Alliance for less than a tenth of the price of an invasion, and used them to do all the dirty work.

I've noticed that Ahmadinejad just loves pointing at Washington's weaknesses. If Washington has a problem, he will be the first to shout it from the rooftops.
"As long as there are sovereign nations possessing great power, war is inevitable."
He says something about the state of the youth in the nation. I think they they had concerns about the economy and at one point requested to be able to leave the country to study abroad...but i didn't hear well and could be totally off.
Although its no profession to austrian economics, sometime he does have valid things to say if you look past his rhetoric and short clips shows on cnn and fox.
