"Another thread this morning referred to Ron Paul's 1987 resignation letter from the GOP. Here's an excerpt in which he mentions Rep. George Hansen:
Under Reagan, the IRS has grown bigger, richer, more powerful, and more arrogant. In the words of the founders of our country, our government has "sent hither swarms" of tax gatherers "to harass our people and eat out their substance." His officers jailed the innocent George Hansen, with the President refusing to pardon a great American whose only crime was to defend the Constitution. Reagan's new tax "reform" gives even more power to the IRS. Far from making taxes fairer or simpler, it deceitfully raises more revenue for the government to waste.

I read this and thought to myself, "Who is George Hansen?". Well a quick look on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/w...) and some other sites (like http://www.constitution.o...) surprised me with information about a congressman that was wrongfully jailed and tortured in 1984 and then found innocent in 1995. I had never heard of this patriot before. Here's a few things he accomplished as congressman:
Seems like there should be a movie made about Congressman George Hansen."
Wow. I had no idea who this man was. I cannot wait to bring this up about Reagan the next time I hear one my conservative friends talk about how amazing he was.
