 1. What was taxed by VA from 1781-1788? I was under the impression something different was taxed than what was taxed under colonial rule.

2. What did the Royal Governors of the colonies usually tax (property, consumption, or something else)?

3. What are some good resources on Thomas Jefferson's views on taxation, his policies as Governor, or even tax legislation he supported (if any) when he was in the VA legislature?
