Today, I stumbled upon this website http://www.governmentisgood.com/ a rather ridiculous site from an anarcho capitalist viewpoint, but where it really shines is in its satiric video which was as equally absurd.
"Man thinks not only for the sake of thinking, but also in order to act."-Ludwig von Mises
Wait is this SUPPOSED to be satire? Cause I have found it funny, but it could almost be unintentionally so.
A quick look through the website and it appears it is not/
Can you link to the video? I can't find it...

This... I remember this... I've seen this linked here before... I can't remember where though.
But yes, it is ridiculous.
*Shrug*

It's a satire site I think.
Clincher: "Republican officials have pursued an anti-government agenda of slashing taxes, cutting social programs, and rolling back regulations. "
Cause Bush cut spending soooo much!!!
Oh, this is rich:
"special interests have way too much political power"
So lets give politicians more power... and hope those special interests don't find out and come calling!
No, it's sadly very real. Here is the guy's webpage. He's a "professor of politics." LOL
lolol
This idiot reminds me of a joke a Professor once told when he introduced himself in his first lecture: "Hi, I am x, I'll be solely teaching you this course but don't worry about my monopoly; I got my Phd back in the early 70s, when the degree still meant something."
OK here's a gem from his article "Government is Good":
Taxes are good. The argument for taxes is a very straightforward one: if government is on balance a very positive force in society, then taxes are good.
This guy needs to read up on the marginal revolution.
To put it another way, you can’t support the things the government does – like caring for the elderly, establishing justice, providing public education, fighting terrorism, and protecting the environment – and still maintain that the taxes that support those things are bad.
I'm all for caring, justice, education, safety and the environment. Guess I better become a socialist now!
Edit: Wow this article goes on for 7 pages - this is better than the Onion!
I think it's just straight up comical.
There's a counter-website, governmentisevil.com, but unfortunately it's relatively devoid of content.
Some more great quotes:
". Consider, for instance, the wide variety of vital roles and functions that big government plays in our society. Things like providing roads and sewers and other essential infrastructure facilities, preventing economic depressions, eliminating horrible diseases like polio and smallpox, ensuring drinkable water and breathable air, dispensing justice, providing retirement security, preventing business abuses, sponsoring stunning scientific breakthroughs, feeding the hungry, recalling unsafe products, educating our children, reducing workplace injuries and deaths, responding to disasters and emergencies, preventing crime, protecting civil liberties, rescuing endangered species, ensuring the safety of drugs, guarding our national security, caring for the elderly, and so on. "
" They are trying to undermine the basic enterprise of modern democratic government itself– with its substantial commitment to social programs and regulation – and that is what I am defending. "
"Large donations to conservative and Libertarian think-tanks like the Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute..." Of I understand what I've read here, Cato isn't liked here.. I understand this area isn't always Libertarian, can anyone clarify?
He was right here though: "Many anti-government activists – especially Libertarians – are sincere in their belief that a minimal state would be good for all of us."
" For much of our history, public schools have been seen as a vital symbol of our nation’s commitment to equal opportunity for all."
Mwalsh, Cato is indeed less principled than Mises, especially when they water things down to influence policy more.
No wonder he likes public education; it's the only system imaginable where he can earn millions in his lifetime with such rubbish.
