A blog post linked to this article, which mentioned the following interesting tidbit about Sweden: "...its laws prohibit politicians running up the national debt in boom years".
Does anybody know more about these laws?

That's pretty much what the blog said, but does anybody know about the law(s) in question? :)
Thanks to some hints of the blog post commenter, an interesting study was found about the budgeting process in Sweden.
In Brazil we have a similar law that is called Law of Fiscal Responsibility, if not by it, the crap would have hit the fan long ago.
Thanks! Fiscal Responsibility Laws seem to be gaining some notoriety and even some successes - see also here and here.
